Imogen trained as a geographer and a fine artist. Her academic work has been on environmental sustainability, largely in West African urban and rural agricultural landscapes, and her artwork, mostly oil paintings, has referenced landscapes she has conducted research within or travelled through, and often conveys her concern about interactions between humans and landscape. More recently she has used art-based methods in social science research projects on environmental sustainability in West Africa. The audiovisual pieces displayed were co-created by artists, researchers and activists in Ghana and Mauritania, in Imogen’s research project ‘Pan-African network for the arts’.
