A decade ago I started "Congo-Scotland" during my Fine Art degree at KABK Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (started aged 50). Rooted in family and history, Congo-Scotland included printed and painted image, artefacts and a multi-layered film (reflecting what Jan Nederveen Pieterse calls the "global melange", a problematic mixing). I have since produced AI-generated images in “NightCafe”, on the same theme. In this exhibition I juxtapose my self-made images with AI-made images. These images suggest how difficult it is for AI algorithms to grapple with the global melange, mixity and inter-dependence that increasingly inhabits our daily material and imagined lives.
